CRIMINAL RECORD/HISTORY

Does it effect you?

The negative impact of a criminal record/history will effect you if you are required to provide a Security Clearance, Police Information Check, Background Check or a Criminal Record Search for any of the following:

  • Travel to the U.S.A. with a criminal record/history can cause delays, missed flights, detainment, or entry refusal. U.S. Department of Homeland Security/Customs and Boarder Protection may require any or all of the following documents: U.S. Waiver, Court Documents, Pardon Documents and Certified Criminal Record Search Documents.
  • Employment with a new company, promotion within your existing company or a new business venture; any one of these opportunities may require you to provide a clear criminal record/history document. Advancement may be determined by the results of your criminal record/history.
  • Volunteering at a school or coaching a sports team? You may be required to produce a criminal record/history document. Many criminal offences showing on a criminal record/history check, regardless of age and circumstances are not acceptable by Volunteer Agencies or Schools due to risk management and insurance purposes.
  • Adoption Agencies require criminal record/history documents. Any criminal record/history documentation will be carefully reviewed and may affect the outcome of an adoption application.
  • Educational Programs such as Nursing, Pharmacy, Emergency Medical Technicians and Teachers are examples of programs that may require criminal record/history documents.  You may not qualify for a selected program because of a criminal record/history.
  • Immigration to stay in Canada or applying for Immigration to another country? If you have a criminal record/history, these applications may be delayed or declined.
  • Work/Travel Visa to other countries, a criminal record/history may cause the loss of these opportunities.
  • Child Custody disputes where individuals have a criminal record/history may influence the outcome of these cases.
  • Rental Opportunities may be limited for individuals who have a criminal record/history as landlords continue to invest in creating a safe environment for their tenants and property.
